Turning a weekly spot-check into continuous compliance data
5 July 2026
Any food service business has a compliance problem that's mostly invisible until it isn't: are staff actually serving to the correct portion/weight standard, consistently, across every shift?
The usual answer is manual spot-checks — a manager with a scale, sampling a handful of serves a week. It's slow, it's a small sample, and it produces no data you can actually use afterwards.
We built a tracker that changes what's possible here, not just how long it takes: OCR reads scale weights automatically, logs every serve to a database, and gives a dashboard staff and managers can both see. What used to be a manual audit is now continuous — daily and shift-level compliance instead of a weekly sample.
~5 hours a week saved
Plus something the manual process couldn't produce at all — real per-staff performance data you can actually act on, not just a compliance checkbox.
Same pattern as the rest of what CrestLabs builds: a specific, unglamorous operational problem, solved properly.
